A Little Bit About Myself....

My name is Amber Hughes.  I have been at teacher for 8 years.  7 years of fourth grade and 1 year of third grade.  I am looking forward to a wonderful year filled with LOTS of learning and LOTS of fun!

I have lived in Texas now for 8 years.  I have a husband named John and a beautiful 4 year old daughter named Jocelyn, who is the light of my life!  I am currently expecting a baby boy due in January.  I am originally from IOWA (GO HAWKEYES!) and graduated from the University of Iowa.

I absolutely ADORE reading and writing. I consider it my passion and it makes me excited every day to be able to teach it.  I hope that I am able to share that love with each and every one of your children. I CANNOT wait to share some of my very favorite books this year. Please encourage your children to read nightly at home and be prepared to write every day!

Mrs. Haugen will be your child's math teacher.  She makes math fun while also encouraging learning at the same time.
Make sure your children have been mastering those multiplication facts and eventually division facts, as we will be using them from the beginning of the year.

Monday/Wednesday: MATH
Tuesday/Thursday: READING

REMEMBER, your student should be doing homework nightly.  Beginning the last week of September, your student will bring home a guided reading book.  They need to be reading this NIGHTLY.
